SETTING UP TO STAMP THE WALLS

If your afraid of dripping paint on your valuables be sure to cover them. Place a small amount of latex into the disposable plate. Cover it with plastic. Straight even lines can be accomplished by using a utility knife, pencil, measuring device and tape to mark off the height of your border. For example, place light pencil marks at two or three foot intervals about six inches to a foot down from the ceiling onto the surface of your wall. Once that's done apply a length of painters tape just under your pencil marks, then proceed to the next wall, or cut the tape in the corner using your utility knife. You've now created an area between the ceiling and tape for your rubber stamping idea or border decorating technique. Add more pencil markings inside of the taped off section if you need to align your chosen designs and shapes. Be sure your paint covers the pencil marks when the border is being stamped, if not, lightly erase them as you stamp around the room. Another alternative is to disregard the strait lines and place your stamp patterns in whatever area or direction that is pleasing to the eye.

POTATO
Cut a potato in half, use a felt pen to draw a simple design on its surface a sun, star or moon for example. With the utility knife cut around your drawn shape removing excess spud as you go. Your objective is to have a quarter to half inch raised design cut into the face of your potato.

SPONGE
Draw simple patterns onto flat sponges. Other items like cups, toys, or blocks can be used as an outline. Using the utility knife to remove excess sponge from around your design.

RUBBER
If your going to do a rubber stamping idea you can purchas the tools from your local craft or art store. The larger and less intricate they are the better.

STAMPING TECHNIQUE

To begin your rubber stamping idea or border design technique, remove the plastic from the desposable plate and lightly dip your chosen stamping tool into the paint. If needed, softly press the tool in paper towel to remove excess liquid. Keeping the stamp level gently press it firmly against the wall. Proceed around the room dipping and pressing the stamping tool until the job is completed.
