Painting vinyl doors

by Barbara
(Surprise, AZ)

I have an old house with 11 doors in a Mahogony color finish. It appears they are a vinyl coating of sorts.

How can I paint these things and the door frames. I want them to be cream so assume I will need a primer first.

From what I have read is Krylon Spray the only product that will work?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Painting vinyls and plastics
by: Shawn the painter

Hi Barbara,

Almost everything can be painted the key is to use the best primer you can buy. Also, be sure the primer used is recommended for the surface being coated.

Krylon works well on plastics but with a properly applied primer you can use virtually any high quality paint as a top coat.

Your paint supplier should be able to help you with how to advice and product selection.
